I

God created the whole universe
and made us in his own image
He shared with us the goodness
of all he had made.
If God had done nothing else
that would have been enough
for us to know that he loves us.

II

When Adam and Eve
turned from Him
he continued to care
and made a covenant
with Noah
with Abraham
and through them
with all the nations of the earth.
If God had done nothing else
that would have been enough
for us to know that he loves us.

III

When His people were in slavery
crushed under burdens of despair
God sent Moses
to lead them into freedon
with power and might.
If God had done nothing else
that would have been enough
for us to know he loves us.

IV

Then God gave us His word
to guide our way
and to lead us to life.
If God had done nothing else
that would have been enough
for us to know that he loves us.

V

When the people he loved
were unfaithful
choosing other gods
breaking God's heart
he sent His prophets
to call them back to Him.
If God had done nothing else
that would have been enough
for us to know that he loves us.

VI

Then God sent his only Son to live with us
to be one with us
to share our pains and our joys
to heal and to teach.
If God had done nothing else
that would have been enough
for us to know that he loves us.

VII

But all of this was not enough for our God
and he gave his only Son
to die for us on the cross
and raised us with Him to new life.
God has given us everything
His very self
His very life
and it is enough
it is more than enough.
